Water resources of Odzaci municipality are famous for being rich with fish. Material evidence related to fishing in this region dates 7,000 years back. At the excavation site Donja Branjevina many prehistoric tools such as hooks, harpoons, tools for knitting nets, weights and knives were found. Written records from the fourteenth century are primarily related to the fishing rights on the river Mostonga used for this purpose until the 1970s. First people with fishing as their main occupation appeared in the nineteenth century. This period also witnesses the appearance of the first Fishing Association. Today, Odzaci municipality with the Danube river, numerous ponds, lakes and 42 km of canal network stands for a true fishing oasis.
The Danube is the most attractive fishing location due to its abundance of fish. The bank is mostly rocky and accessible along its whole length (1366 - 1375.2 RKM). Favorite fishing spots Dunavac (Golic), locks, a pump station and a weekend resort provide abundance of pike, carp, catfish, perch, asp, white fish, etc.
The most visited site is Golic (Golic Islet) with its T-shaped fishing platforms that provide rich catch of pike, asp, and various kinds of white fish.
Fishing is a popular form of pastime for many anglers from Odzaci and other municipalities.
All 42 km of canal network that runs through Odzaci municipality is suitable for fishing. Yet anglers prefer certain locations: Tromedja between Karavukovo and Odzaci, river lock between Odzaci and Srpski Miletic, gravel pit near Backi Gračac, banks of Odzaci, Lalic, Deronje and Srpski Miletic where people usually catch bass, catfish, perch, carp and other white fish.
